2/28 update: New picks from Jonathan Wasserman/Bleacher Report to close out the month. This one has Jase Richardson and Liam McNeely moving up and both going in the lottery to the Spurs. In this one Philly keeps their #6 pick and takes Tre Johnson. Isaiah Evans has also moved up into the late 1st round after a string of hot shooting games.

After a whale of a trade deadline, we’re back, trying to refocus on the draft. Luckily, we have new picks from Jeremy Woo and Jonathan Givony/ESPN, Jonathan Wasserman/Bleacher Report, the No Ceilings crew, Tankathon, and yours truly.

Jeremiah Fears lost a bit of luster after a few not-so-great games. Meanwhile, Danny Wolf is climbing up the 1st round boards. Givony and Woo have Joan Berringer jumping up into the lottery, as well as Alex Condon at the tail end of the first round. Ace Bailey may have solidified his position at #3 with some strong play while Dylan Harper was out. And VJ Edgecombe is back in a big way after some lights out shooting in conference play.

With the dust settling a bit in the NBA post, trade deadline, we’re also seeing quite a bit of stealth tanking. New Orleans traded away Brandon Ingram (but didn’t get rid of (imo franchise albatross contract) CJ McCollum) and shut down Herb Jones for the season. Wizards aren’t playing their vets many minutes. Spurs are playing their vets too many minutes. Hornets traded for Nurkic and are starting him and Nick Smith. Utah has Isaiah Collier at the reins and sent Keyonte George to the bench. And Chicago…..well, they are a mess, as always. They’re now relying on Vucevic and Giddey to anchor their (horrific) defense.

I’m very interested to see if teams try to consolidate picks to move up in this draft. The Nets, Thunder, Spurs, Magic, Hawks and Jazz have A LOT of the picks–and most of them already have quite a few young players on their rosters. Who wants to trade into the 1st round and what will the price tag be?

On the point guard front, Jakucionis and Demin have picked it back up a bit. Fears and Philon have dropped back a bit. Fland is hurt. Harper is doing his thing once again and is firmly at #1 on the power rankings. And once again, Nolan Traore, is being overlooked as we get into nitpick season. Once Traore is surrounded by shooters and NBA spacing, how do you think he’s going to look with his elite court vision, speed, and passing skills? Lets not overthink this. He’s French, yes, but he’s not Killian Hayes.

Keep checking back as I’ll be updating this post throughout the month and/or follow @hoopsdistillery on Twitter for update alerts.
