6/22 update:

6:00PM EST update: Almost time for the big show but the updates just keep on comin’! New picks from Kevin O’Connor/The Ringer, Ricky O’Donnell/SB Nation, Sam Vecenie/The Athletic, and Jonathan Wasserman/Bleacher Report, Jonathan Givony, Tankathon, and Jeremy Woo/ESPN. Top 8 is looking like it’s almost set across these mocks with Wemby, Scoot/Miller, Amen, Ausar, Black, Jarace, Whitmore, Hendricks.

9:00AM update: Happy Draft Day! Best day of the year, hands down. Big thanks to everyone who has supported the site (and or HooDis Twitter) throughout the season!

Well, it’s all quiet this morning after the bombshell Marcus Smart/Porzingis deal in the middle of the night, but I suspect things will start heating up soon and there will probably be one more round of mock draft updates and/or big board updates.

I figured it was only fitting to update my own picks on draft day. And with the Celtics now in control of the #25 pick, I have them taking Dariq Whitehead. Also, I had a little fun with this one more so as food for thought before the draft starts and to get away from group-think. Everyone seems super high on Anthony Black so I moved him up to #4 where Houston may trade the pick away to someone who wants him bad enough to pay up. I also have Coulibaly at #6, as he is the perfect long, athletic wing that the Magic front office always fall in love with. I still have the Thompson twins dropping down in the lottery because it makes more sense for the Jazz and Wizards, two teams who are rebuilding and have nothing to lose if either are a bust, to take a chance on developing them. I have Cam Whitmore as the one who falls the furthest since teams seem high on Bufkin and Lively. Gradey Dick and Cason Wallace are the two who I feel are the most underrated and can’t miss lottery picks. Teams will regret passing on them.

6/21 update:

5:30PM EST: Finished listening to Givony on the Lowe Post Pod and then Woo on the Hoops Collective pod and then updated our mock draft comparison yet again with fresh picks from Jonathan Givony and Jeremy Woo/ESPN. They now have Ausar Thompson and Anthony Black jumping Jarace Walker and Cam Whitmore. They also have Cason Wallace dropping to #18 behind Jett Howard, Keyonte George, Jalen Hood-Schifino and Jordan Hawkins. Not sure what the medicals on Wallace are saying about his back, but talent-wise (in my opinion) there is no world in which I would pick him last out of those five players.

3:30PM EST: Just added four updated mock drafts, including John Hollinger/The Athletic, Sam Vecenie/The Athletic, Bryan Kalbrosky/USA Today, and Tankathon. Lots of intel and movement happening, not surprisingly! Everyone but Tankathon has Brandon Miller at #2. Vecenie has the Thompson twins jumping Whitmore and Walker. Meanwhile, Kalbrosky has Coulibaly dropping to #16, while Vecenie has him jumping up to #10. The most interesting pick that I saw which seems like a great fit I hadn’t seen previously (or thought of) is Keyonte George to the Warriors at #19. Jaime Jaquez is moving up on all mock drafts and oddly, so is Jett Howard, after being out of favor for the last month.

1:00PM EST update: The Nuggets just made another trade! John Hollinger tweeted this: “Reminder on Denver-Indy deal: Denver-OKC trade that got that 2024 first originally likely won’t be completed till after July 1, and this trade can’t be completed until that one is.”

12:00PM EST update: looks like Wasserman updated his mock draft for the second time this morning but the only change is Dereck Lively jumping Kobe Bufkin in the late lottery (besides the write-ups/intel of course).

10:00AM EST update: Jonathan Wasserman/Bleacher Report updated his running mock draft last night and included lots of good intel, including Cam Whitmore‘s medicals may be part of the reason for his sudden drop this week to #9 on various mock drafts. He moved Anthony Black up to #6 (similar to KOC) and Bilal Coulibaly to #10. Ausar drop to #8 on this one, while Jarace Walker moves up to #5.

6/20 update: Updated mock draft this morning from Jeremy Woo and Jonathan Givony/ESPN that is loaded with all kinds of rumors and possible movement. The big shift in the lottery is Cam Whitmore dropping to #9 as was rumored yesterday from Givony on Sportscenter. Olivier Maxence-Prosper, Jaime Jaquez and Brandin Podziemski have jumped Dariq Whitehead and Leonard Miller in the tail end of the 1st round, as playoff teams are assumed to be wanting ready-made players to step into the rotation.

Second update of the day! This one includes some stellar draft links below and a fresh mock draft from Kevin O’Connor/The Ringer. Kobe Bufkin moving up to #8 on this one, while Cam Whitmore drops to #9 (mirroring the intel from Givony). He also has Jaime Jaquez moving up to #18, jumping Gradey Dick who drops to #19 (wtf!?). Also, KOC has Noah Clowney going #14 (and Givony/Woo also had Clowney moving up to #21)

6/19 update: Two updated mock drafts for you today: Tankathon and my own. Bradley Beal got traded to the Suns yesterday which may start the dominos falling–and for this off-season, that may include Lillard, Zion, Siakam, Grant Williams, Harrison Barnes, and many more. Buckle up and remember to consume responsibly this week as the proverbial firehose of NBA draft and free agency rumors will be on full strength!

6/17 update: Three new mock drafts in recent days, including updates from Kevin O’Connor/The Ringer, Jonathan Wasserman/Bleacher Report and Bryan Kalbrosky/USA Today. Kalbrosky has moved Kobe Bufkin up to #8 and Bilal Coulibaly to #9, while Taylor Hendricks dropped down to #12. Meanwhile, Wasserman has Scoot moving back up into the #2 slot, and Kobe Bufkin moving up to #12. O’Connor also has Coulibaly moving up to #9 and Anthony Black up at #6, while Gradey Dick dropped to #15. Interestingly, all three of these mock drafts have Keyonte George in the #14 to #16 range, in stark contrast to picks over the 7-10 days where he had dropped to the mid-20’s.

6/16 update: Fresh mock draft update from Sam Vecenie/The Athletic who has Amen Thompson going to Orlando at #6 and Dereck Lively and Jalen Hood-Schifino moving up into the tail end of the lottery and Jaime Jaquez moving up to #22. Keyonte George dropping all the way down to #27–which makes him the player with the most pick variance across all mock drafts (see updated pick variance chart below). Also check out Vecenie’s entertaining live mock draft pod with Coach Spins from last night.

6/14 update: A very meaty, updated mock draft was just posted this morning from Jonathan Givony and Jeremy Woo/ESPN which has Dereck Lively and Kobe Bufkin moving back into the lottery, Keyonte George dropping to the 20’s, and Colby Jones and Brice Sensabaugh dropping into the 2nd round. Sounds like many of the teams with multiple picks (Hornets, Jazz, Pacers, Rockets, Nets) are all looking to package picks and trade up. They say Jonathan Kuminga may be available from the Warriors who are looking to move up, and also that the Pistons may look to package Bojan Bogdanovic and #31 for Tim Hardaway and #10 from the Mavericks.

Tasty draft consumables not to miss:

6/12 update: New mock draft released today by Ricky O’Donnell/SB Nation. Similar to Bryan Kalbrosky/USA Today, he has Amen Thompson going #3 to pair with Dame Lillard. But in contrast to Kalbrosky, O’Donnell has Brandon Miller dropping to Houston at #4. This draft discussion with Ricky O’Donnell/SB Nation on the Rose Garden Report with Sean Highkin was excellent! O’Donnell goes into detail about his thoughts on the Thompson twins outlook and why is a bit lower on Miller.

6/10 update: Kevin O’Connor/The Ringer has a 6/9 mock draft update, but I see no difference other than Brandin Podziemski moving into the 21st slot to Brooklyn and Dariq Whitehead dropping to the 2nd round. Also, Jonathan Wasserman/Bleacher Report pinned his mock to his twitter feed and turned the June article into a running mock draft which he’ll update periodically. As of 6/5 he updated the following: Bilal Coulibaly rose to 11, Ben Sheppard‘s moved up to 19, and Jett Howard dropped to 29.

Also–this trade (!!) went down yesterday:

6/7 update: Added new picks from Kevin O’Connor/The Ringer via his NBA Draft Guide. I also added updated Hoops Distillery picks. Very interesting debate emerging as to who goes #4. KOC had Amen Thompson on past mock drafts, but changed his pick to Cam Whitmore this month, while I had Taylor Hendricks but updated my pick to Jarace Walker. Any of those players would be solid picks for Houston, but Amen doesn’t make sense with James Harden coming back (since he is not a PG and not a great shooter), so the question becomes who is the best front court piece or will they just trade the pick to get more vets? In the end, I don’t fully trust Whitmore and think Walker is the better fit to bolster the defense, as they will need it with Harden/Jalen Green up top.

The draft is only 18 days away! The combine and pro days are in the rearview mirror, so it’s time for fresh picks to analyze and compare from Tankathon, Jonathan Givony and Jeremy Woo/ESPN, Bryan Kalbrosky/USA Today, and Jonathan Wasserman/Bleacher Report.

As you know, updates come fast and furious in the final two weeks before the draft so bookmark this page and keep referring back, or follow me on Twitter and set alerts for updates. I’ll also be posting big board comparisons throughout the month, ending with my ‘final mock drafts vs. actual picks’ piece.

There’s a lot of movement happening. Some of this is intel-based, some of it may be overthinking, and some of it may be workout-influenced. The #2 pick chatter seems to have tilted in Brandon Miller‘s favor, while Cam Whitmore has moved up to #5 for the Pistons over Jarace Walker after Walker cancelled his pro day and sparked rumors that he has a promise from someone. Meanwhile, Cason Wallace is dropping like a rock (#17 for ESPN and #15 for B/R). JHS has moved up to #9 for ESPN and USA Today has Scoot dropping to #4 (assuming Portland keeps their pick and goes with Amen Thompson, the better fit). Buckle up and enjoy.
