Note: If the table is not loading correctly on your mobile device via Twitter, then copy and paste this link in your browser and view the post on my site at https://hoopsdistillery.com/mock-draft-comp-jan22/

January 30 update: Fresh 1st round mock draft from Jonathan Givony/ESPN and top 15 picks from Chad Ford/NBA Big Board–both of which include Shaedon Sharpe.

January 13 update: New picks added from Jeremy Woo/Sports Illustrated and Tankathon.com.

Happy New Year to everyone–here’s to a healthy, non-mask wearing 2022, without players in health and safety protocols or game cancellations!

A fresh round of mock drafts were released last week from Bleacher Report/Jonathan Wasserman, The Athletic/Sam Vecenie, and Bryan Kalbrosky/USA Today, so I wanted to create a new post that helped us compare and analyze all of them. Although the picks have changed a good amount since mid-to-late December, I opted to leave the 12/22 ESPN picks from Jonathan Givony until they post an updated version.

Big movers included Wisconsin’s Johnny Davis, who was amazing in a few games, most notably in a big W against Purdue, in which he went head to head with (consensus #4 pick (for the time being) and fellow top SG prospect) Jaden Ivey. Tari Eason from LSU and Keegan Murray from Iowa are also on the rise, while hype seems to have cooled off a bit on Trevor Keels and Jaden Hardy after some subpar performances. Newcomers to the 1st round, for us to keep an eye on, include Blake Wesley from Notre Dame and Jeremy Sochan from Baylor.

In case you missed my last #mockdraftcomp, I’ve added a new sortable chart showing the pick variance for the top prospects across the mock drafts, to save everyone a bit of time. And as you’ll see the overall variance has decreased quite a bit in just a month’s time. Some of the numbers are thrown off a bit by the aforementioned ESPN picks, as Johnny Davis, for example, was #16 way back, two weeks ago–a level he will most likely never go back to unless he steal laptops, borrows money from Penny Hardaway, and/or has a couple of DUIs next month.

There will be more mock drafts posted in the coming weeks, so make sure to check back for updates and follow me at @hoopsdistillery on Twitter for update notifications. If I’m missing any mocks that you feel belong alongside the ‘All-NBA level’ draft analysts I currently include, leave a comment or DM me on Twitter.

January 20th update: Added updated big boards from Jonathan Givony/ESPN and Chad Ford/NBA Big Board.

Chet and Paolo holding strong in the top three spots along with Jabari Smith as college basketball’s bizarro, covid-19 infected, non-conference play comes to an end. Not hearing much of anything from OTE, but a strong showing by MarJon Beauchamp at the G League Showcase has moved him into the first round discussion. Here’s a fresh set of big boards to compare the Top 50 from Jonathan Givony/ESPN, Chad Ford/NBA Big Board, and Jonathan Wasserman/Bleacher Report, and Bryan Kalbrosky/USA Today.

[NBA Draft]: 2024 Mock Draft Comparison, December 2023

The holidays are almost here and non-conference play is concluding, so its time to analyze a new batch of mock drafts, including SB Nation, Bleacher Report, ESPN, Tankathon and yours truly at Hoops Distillery. Lots of movement and debate across the lottery and first round!

[NBA Draft]: 2024 Mock Draft Comparison, November 2023

After a few weeks of digesting college and international games we have a fresh batch of mock drafts to compare, including The Athletic, Bleacher Report, ESPN, and Tankathon, Still lots of disagreement across the lottery with some injuries and underwhelming play from top prospects.

[NBA Draft]: 2024 Big Board Comparison, November 2023

Here’s our second big board comparison for 2024 . We have new picks from Jonathan Givony/ESPN, Keandre/Hoop Intellect and Tankathon with the college basketball and the G League season starting up this week.

12/22: Added new mock drafts from Jonathan Givony/ESPN and Tankathon. Worth noting that Tankathon is the first to have Jabari Smith at #1. Also, Givony had Kendall Brown the lowest of all the mocks at #16, as well as AJ Griffin not being drafted–which I assume they are implying he will stay for his sophomore year at Duke.

12/20: Updated mock drafts from Jonathan Wasserman/Bleacher Report and Tankathon. Also, I’ve added a new sortable chart showing the pick variance for the top prospects across the mock drafts, to save everyone a bit of time.

11/30: Updated mock drafts from Sam Vecenie/The Athletic and Bryan Kalbrosky/USA Today and added a new one from Jeremy Woo/Sport Illustrated.

11/13: Jonathan Givony from ESPN/Draft Express updated his two-round mock draft this week with draft order based on ESPN BPI draft projections as of 11/8.

11/14: Updated player rankings and a new 1st round mock draft from Tankathon.com.

10/23: Jonathan Wasserman from Bleacher Report‘s posted new first round picks based on FanDuel’s projected win totals and previous trades.

10/18: Sam Vecenie from The Athletic posted all new picks with team order based on BetMGM sportsbook odds.

9/22: Bryan Kalbrosky‘s from USA Today‘s two round mock based on reversing the NBA futures odds from Tipico SportsBook.

Note: If the table is not loading correctly on your mobile device via Twitter, then copy and paste this link in your browser and view the post on my site at https://hoopsdistillery.com/2022-big-board-comp-september/.

After enjoying the delicious appetizer of 2022 NBA mock drafts the week after the draft in July, we now have the more intel coming in, with the first of many 2022 big boards from the top draft analysts, including the top 100 from ESPN’s Jonathan Givony, top 30 from Sports Illustrated’s Jeremy Woo, and, the always reliable, Tankathon who posted their top 40. Banchero, Holgmren and Hardy, in some order, seems to be consensus for the time being, but there’s a lot of contrast across the boards after that.

There will be more big boards posted in the coming weeks, so make sure to check back for updates and follow me at @hoopsdistillery on Twitter for update notifications. Also, if I’m missing any big boards that you feel belong alongside the ‘All-NBA level’ draft analysts I currently include, leave a comment or DM me on Twitter.

[NBA Draft]: 2024 Big Board Comparison, September 2023

2024 big boards are here! And just in time for G League Ignite’s first games which happen to be vs. Alex Sarr and the Perth Wildcats. Check out these boards from The Ringer, Tankathon, B/R, and NBA Big Board.

Note: If the table is not loading correctly on your mobile device via Twitter, then copy and paste this link in your browser and view the post on my site at https://hoopsdistillery.com/2022-mock-draft-comp-aug/

9/12 update: new picks added from Bryan Kalbrosky of USA Today.

8/7 update: revised mock drafts from Sam Vecenie and Tankathon with the Jalen Duren news. Jonathan Givony and Jonathan Wasserman already had Duren on their mock drafts released a week before the announcement.

And just like that, the 2021 Draft is in the rearview mirror and our focus can start to shift to 2022 prospects. As is tradition each year, many of the top NBA Draft analysts release a mock draft within days or hours of the previous cycle ending to kick off the new season. This year we have mock drafts to compare by Jonathan Givony from ESPN/Draft Express, Jonathan Wasserman from B/R, Sam Vecenie from The Athletic, and our friends at Tankathon.com. While ESPN released 59 picks, most of the others only have mocked the 1st round for the time being. Also, the pick order is different for these mock drafts based on varying NBA championship odds for 2021-2022 season–and Sam Vecenie who did not even include actual teams, just pick numbers.
